Wellness: 5 Best Immune-Boosting Tea for Flu Season

As flu season is going on and everyone is panicking over the corona virus, I thought it’s the best time to share some immune-boosting recipes.


Today I gathered 5 herbal tea recipes that will help you to survive the flu season.

And these are obviously overall healthy for every season.


1. Green Tea


Green tea is known as the healthiest beverage of all.

I know, i know many of you scrunch your nose as soon as you hear the name of green tea.

In that case, I'll share my tips on how to make green tea taste yummy and yet get all the health benefits from it. Read till the end to find out.

Benefits:

  • Loaded with anti-oxidants

  • Controls bacterial growth.

  • Excellent fat-loss beverage.

  • Anti-aging. Good for skin.

  • Improves teeth health.

  • Eliminates bad breath.

  • Relieves migraine.

  • Improves brain function.

  • Good for heart and liver health.


Preparation: Boil a cup of water. Steep a green tea bag in hot water for 5-7 minutes. Add honey to sweeten (Optional). Drink it warm or hot.



2. Ginger Tea

Benefits:

  • Anti-Inflammatory.

  • Treat digestive issues like gas, bloating etc.

  • Relieves nausea.

  • Relieves menstrual cramps.

  • Improve brain function.

  • Boosts immune system.


Preparation: Boil a cup of water. Steep two crushed slices of ginger in hot water for 5-7 minutes till the water cools down a little. Add honey to sweeten (Optional). Drink it warm.



3. Peppermint Tea


Benefits:

  • Relives clogged sinus.

  • Relieves headaches and migraines.

  • Anti-oxidant

  • Muscle relaxant. Relieves stress and menstrual cramps

  • Eliminates bad breath.

  • Relieves gas, bloating and indigestion


Preparation: Boil a cup of water. Steep few tender peppermint leaves in hot water for 5-7 minutes till the water cools down a little. Add honey to sweeten (Optional). Drink it warm.



4. Citrus Peel Tea


Benefits:

  • Anti-oxidant.

  • Increases metabolism.

  • Detoxification.

  • Contains vitamin C that combats cold.

  • Stimulates digestion.

  • Eliminates acidity and heartburn.


Preparation: Boil a cup of water. Steep either some orange/ lemon peel or slices in hot water for 5-7 minutes. Add honey to sweeten (Optional). Drink it warm.


5. Cinnamon Clove Tea


Cinnamon is one of the ancient spices that is known for it's medicinal properties. Now it is commonly used in almost every household to enhance taste and add flavor to dishes. But, did you know it has these many benefits? Take a look.


Benefits:

  • Anti-oxidant

  • Has anti-microbial properties

  • Cures toothache, sore gums and ulcers.

  • Relieves cough, cold and headache

  • Relieves PMS.

  • Good for skin health

Preparation: Boil a cup of water. Break a piece of cinnamon stick, take 2-3 cloves and steep in hot water for 5-7 minutes. You can also use cinnamon powder. Add honey to sweeten (Optional). Drink it warm.


Bonus Green Tea Recipe:

1. Boil a cup of water. 2. Add 2-3 cardamom , crushed ginger slice, a cinnamon stick, 2-3 cloves, and few mint leaves. 3. Add green tea and steep it for 5 minutes.

4. Stir in some honey to sweeten.

The flavors from cinnamon, cardamom and ginger will neutralize the yucky taste of green tea adding soothing aroma to it. Best part? All of the spices have its own benefits.


These are the 5 herbal teas which are really great for immunity boost.

Now, you don't necessarily have to follow the simplest preparation method i wrote.

Infact you can switch up and play with the ingredients and get better taste.

Some of the great combos are:

Orange, Cinnamon & Honey Ginger, Lemon and Honey Ginger, Peppermint and Honey And sooo many other possibilities.
